* Travel to Oakvael, down through Troll Town to the Undead level, then immediately down the stairs again to the "Knight Quest Area" (labeled on the map).  Make your way to Wendy and get the killing blow on her, looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.  (You may want to have a Thief whittle her down to Severe damage, she's otherwise a fairly tough fight)
* Take the dragon-shaped gem to Kaden on the white hex right outside Wendy's lair (not to the previous Kaden in Axe Glacier!!!).
* Have Kaden "teach", and he will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Merlin in Oakvael.  
* Pick up the empowered gem.
* Travel to Merlin, who is located in Oakvael on the Wyrm level.  To get there, go to Serpent level and take either set of stairs leading up on East end of floor.  Proceed South on the Wyrm level to find Merlin. 
* Drop the gem at Merlin's feet and have him "teach".  He will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Mama.
