Dragon Gauntlets

refined gauntlets made from pieces of multiple dragons.

Quest Summary

This quest takes you through a "gauntlet" of all the dragons in the game, rewarding you with some great Dragon Gauntlets when you complete. Each step in this quest generally works like this:

1. NPC_1 tells you to go kill <Dragon_1> (you must get the killing blow), then bring the gem that <Dragon_1> drops to them near the dragon
2. Once you've killed the Dragon, you'll loot the dragon-shaped gem (ties on pickup)
3. You'll take that gem and drop it at the feet of different version of NPC_1, who happens to be very close to <Dragon>.
4. Ask NPC_1 to teach, they will "empower" the gem, and tell you take the empowered gem to NPC_2 (pick up the empowered gem)
5. Go to NPC_2, drop the gem and have them "teach" (they will/should take the gem) - this will start this process again (this step and #1 are basically the same step). NPC_2 will tell you to kill <Dragon_2>, etc.

Starting the Quest

To start the quest for the Dragon Gauntlets, you'll need to start with Randy in Annwn. To reach him...

• Go just east of Evil Town gates.
• In the first building to the south (blacksmith shop) there is a secret door at SW corner.
• Follow the path to Nymph area.
• In the Nymph area, follow the broken path south and then East to teleporter (Nymphs will knock you around - just ignore them and keep going).
• Continue east to Randy (and Tom from the Infused Giant Sword quest).
• Ask Randy to teach you (then tell him "yes"). Randy tells you to kill Daisy.
• (The Teleporter nearby returns you to Annwn portal room)

Daisy

• Travel to Kesmai -4 and get the killing blow on Daisy, looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Randy along north wall of Daisy's lair (not to the previous Randy in Annwn!!!).
• Have Randy "teach", and he will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Kerrigan in the Underkingdom.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to Kerrigan, who is located in the Underkingdom Undead (UK UD) area, in the 3rd/final room after Dreadlord Ugrul (Kerrigan is on the right behind a ruined wall). If you've gotten back into the Bog, you've gone too far (and you can't go backwards).
• Drop the gem at Kerrigan's feet and have him "teach". He will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Kosh.

Kosh

• Travel to Leng Griffin level (Griff Cliffs), climb up into Kosh's lair and get the killing blow on Kosh, looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Kerrigan right below Kosh's lair (not to the previous Kerrigan in UK UD!!!).
• Have Kerrigan "teach", and he will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Kaden in Axe Glacier.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to Kaden, who is located in Axe Glacier. Get yourself to the rope up to Lockpick town. However, instead of climbing the rope, travel a short distance south to the stairs. Go down stairs and follow cave system south and east. He is at the far end of the cave.
• Drop the gem at Kaden's feet and have him "teach". He will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Wendy.

Wendy

• Travel to Oakvael, down through Troll Town to the Undead level, then immediately down the stairs again to the "Knight Quest Area" (labeled on the map). Make your way to Wendy and get the killing blow on her, looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do. (You may want to have a Thief whittle her down to Severe damage, she's otherwise a fairly tough fight)
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Kaden on the white hex right outside Wendy's lair (not to the previous Kaden in Axe Glacier!!!).
• Have Kaden "teach", and he will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Merlin in Oakvael.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to Merlin, who is located in Oakvael on the Wyrm level. To get there, go to Serpent level and take either set of stairs leading up on East end of floor. Proceed South on the Wyrm level to find Merlin.
• Drop the gem at Merlin's feet and have him "teach". He will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Mama.

Mama

• Travel to Axe Glacier and get the killing blow on Mama, looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Merlin located just outside her lair (not to the previous Merlin in Oakvael!!!).
• Have Merlin "teach", and he will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Altantsetseg in the Leng.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to Altantsetseg, who is located in the Leng Undead area. In the south end of the Griffin Level (Griff Cliffs), there are stairs to the Undead area. Once you've gone down those stairs, head to west side of room. Go south and turn east at first hallway. At east end of that hallway, there is a secret door to the south where you'll find her.
• Drop the gem at Altantsetseg's feet and have her"teach". She will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Super Daisy.

Super Daisy

• Travel to Annwn Dragon Town and get the killing blow on Super Daisy (you'll probably want a party for this, make sure they know you need the killing blow), looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Altantsetseg, who is in Sylia's lair. You should be able to reach her without aggro'ing Sylia (though the Nymphs can make it annoying if you don't take them out first).
• Have Altantsetseg "teach", and she will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Maelyne in Kesmai.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to Maelyne, who is located at the "old portal" in Kesmai. The old portal is on the Kesmai surface - just head East from town and you'll eventually find the spires that typically indicate a portal area, and there you'll find Maelyne in the center of some sand hexes.
• Drop the gem at Maelyne's feet and have her "teach". She will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Super Mama.

Super Mama

• Travel to Annwn Dragon Town and get the killing blow on Super Mama (you'll probably want a party for this, make sure they know you need the killing blow), looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Maelyne, who is in Sylia's lair (yes, she's also there in addition to Altantsetseg from the last step in the quest). You should be able to reach her without aggro'ing Sylia (though the Nymphs can make it annoying if you don't take them out first).
• Have Maelyne "teach", and she will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to Marlis in Annwn.
• Pick up the empowered gem.
• Travel to the Annwn town version of Marlis (not the Marlis just outside of Sylia's lair). She can be found in the West end of town, in the building just below the lockers.
• Drop the gem at Marlis's feet and have her "teach". She will/should take the gem and tell you to kill Sylia.

Sylia

• Travel to Annwn Dragon Town and get the killing blow on Sylia (you'll definitely want a party for this, make sure they know you need the killing blow), looting the dragon-shaped gem after you do.
• Also - in addition to dragon-shaped gem, loot the dragon egg (check with the party beforehand, as the egg ties on pickup)
• Take the dragon-shaped gem to Marlis outside of Sylia's lair (in the wyvern area of Dragon Town, just south of the stairs).
• Have Marlis "teach", and she will give you the empowered version of the dragon-shaped gem, instructing you to take it to the Ghost in Kesmai.
• Pick up the empowered gem.

This next part of the quest is slightly different, due to the need to fight an Underworld dragon

Underworld (Lawful) Dragon

(This next part is the "recommended" way to do this part of the quest - if you want to do it without earning karma first and fighting the chaotic dragon south of the Archer instead, you can do it, but it's significantly harder)

• Travel to Kesmai
• Prepare to do a UW run: Locker all of your gear *except* your dragon-shaped gem and some balms (just in case). Yes - this does mean you should locker your egg too!
• Travel towards the graveyard to the East, but before going to the Ghost, head to either Ironbar or the "High MA Trainer" (Phong) and kill one of them to earn 1 Karma and change your alignment to Neutral.
• Go to the graveyard, where Ghost is hovering over the UW portal.
• Put the empowered gem at the Ghost's feet, then have them "teach", they will take the gem and tell you to go to the UW and kill the dragon there.
• Use the usual command/chant to go to the UW: urruku ya zi xul
• You'll start out in the usual starting location for UW - do not immediately kill yourself
• Travel South on the path, then when you're in the sandy room, climb down the rope. Travel Southeast then East all the way over to the far east side of the map so you can kill the Bear and loot his skull (for Nightvision, which will come in handy).
• Once you've done that, you can kill yourself in any of the usual ways (e.g. jumping off a cliff).
• You'll respawn in the "Cave of the Lawful Dragon". At this point, you'll want to kill both the Dragon and the Demon that are in the room with you. The easiest way is to drag them over to the hex you spawned in at, and fight them on the hex (the Demon eventually runs out of mana and come over, and the Dragon will come fight you on the hex). Keep fighting them (and likely dying) until you've killed them both.
• Loot the Dragon and take the dragon-shaped gem. Unfortunately, since you're in the UW, you can't put it in your bag, so you'll have to carry it in your hands (and will have to do so for the entire rest of your time in the UW).
• Now you'll have to walk the dark pathways/waters to get to Set as part of the UW Karma quest.
• East of the respawn hex there's a rope, climb up that. From there, there will be 4 floors where you'll need to do these movements: "SE E E NE Climb up" (it'll take 3 rounds each time)
• Once you've done that, you'll be on the East land hex in the Sea of Darkness. You'll need to swim south and west in the water (make sure you use the 'swim' command) to get to the next rope. It's recommended to have the UW map open for this part so you can see which squares to swim through to get over to the rope. Once you get to the rope, climb up.
• You'll end up in a dark hallway, with even many walls being invisible. Once again, it's recommended to follow the UW map until you find a rope down (climb down).
• Now, you'll be in a dark hall of demons with some secret doors in between on your way to Set. Once again, you should review the UW map so you know where to go and where the 3 hidden doors are (they're in a line going West) The demons will cast curse, so you need to keep moving once they see you. If you're doing it right (i.e. moving quickly between the doors), you should only end up taking 3 curses, which shouldn't kill you.
• You've now arrived at Set! Ask Set to "teach" and he will tell you the magic words / command to be forgiven: ereth nushi xul
• Your Karma should now be cleared, and your alignment should be back to Lawful (or Neutral for thieves). If it hasn't cleared, make sure you check your commands in the previous step before moving forward...
• Now that your Karma/Alignment are back to normal, you can jump into one of the handy fires nearby. When you die, you should respawn in the UW Temple like normal.
• Now, you just need to get all of your organs back by doing the usual UW Quests (holding onto the dragon-shaped gem while you do so).
• After getting your organs back, do not leave UW yet.
• The Ghost you need to hand in the dragon-shaped gem to is on the exit portal hex. Make sure you don't exit before dropping the gem, having them "teach", and being told to bring the egg to the "Pet" in Leng (Porno the dragon).

Getting the Gauntlets

• Now that you're out of UW, gear back up, and grab your egg from your locker as well.
• You need to bring the egg to Porno the dragon in Leng, who is in Ser Lucius's lair. You'll either want to bring a party to defeat Ser Lucius, or otherwise get him out of the room long enough (or tank him long enough) to the last part of the quest...
• Once you've handled Ser Lucius in some form or fashion, get to Porno's hex in the middle of Ser Lucius's room, drop the egg, and have him teach - he will drop you the Dragon Gauntlets.
• Congratulations - you've completed the Gauntlet of Dragons for the Dragon Gauntlets!
